Our Camp Counselor Program participants and staff went on a Field to the Zoo – and it was an amazing experience!

Elephants, monkeys, rhinos, birds, turtles, caimans and many other cool animals were part of our Saturday (23rd), with a Field Trip to the Belo Horizonte Zoo as part of our Camp Counselor Program training. For this special occasion, the participants were asked to lead some activities in English with a co-counselor while guiding the group througth the Zoo.
“It’s an unique opportunity for them to experience how it feels to be in a real Field Trip, as it happens in the United States during the Summer. With this activity we provide the appropriate environment for them to develop some specific required skills to be Counselors for both Day Camp and Resident Camp”, explains Emanoela de Souza, Globe Trotter Executive Director.

After almost two hours of hiking and playing games around the Zoo, the groups got a feedback from our Staff, which have already lived and worked in the United States as Camp Counselors. They pointed out some situations our participants will eventually face while leading a Field Trip with children and highlighted the ways to solve those issues. Our most importante advice is: “make sure everyone is having a great time and keep them safe”.
